A Toast to Heritage: An Evening with Laurent-Perrier at Le Club by Partage

The evening of October 22nd, 2025, glowed with quiet elegance at Le Club by Partage, where a select circle of guests gathered for a Laurent-Perrier Champagne tasting that felt less like an event and more like an immersion into history, artistry, and refinement. For me, attending this soirée was both a professional honor and a deeply personal experience.

Nicolas Kalpokdjian, co-owner of Partage, shared that his great-grandmother once worked for the House of Laurent-Perrier, meticulously applying each label by hand—an act of patience and craftsmanship that perfectly mirrors the ethos of the brand itself. To be present at this tasting, surrounded by glasses that shimmered with golden light, felt like closing a circle of heritage and devotion.


Hosted by Erin Riccolo, Vice President of Laurent-Perrier for the West Coast, the evening was a masterclass in balance—between precision and poetry, between the timeless and the avant-garde. Erin, with her characteristic warmth and expertise, guided us through each cuvée not as mere bottles but as narratives—each telling the story of a House that has for over two centuries pursued elegance through innovation.

Founded in 1812Laurent-Perrier has long been a standard-bearer of purity and finesse in the world of Champagne. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the House built its identity around the mastery of Chardonnay, bringing a sense of freshness and delicacy that revolutionized Champagne’s style in the post-war years. This philosophy—rooted in respect for nature, patience, and precision—still defines its creations today.


The selection curated for the evening was nothing short of exceptional. It was clear that each bottle had been chosen with intent—to reveal not only the House’s stylistic DNA but its evolution over time.


The 2015 Vintage, with its luminous energy and delicate minerality, opened the evening. Its structure, firm yet graceful, evoked the House’s vision of natural balance. The Cuvée Héritage followed, a composition of depth and maturity that paid homage to the legacy of generations who have shaped Laurent-Perrier’s enduring voice.


Then came a moment of reverence: the Grand Siècle Iteration No. 26, a Champagne awarded a perfect 100 points by critics for its complexity and harmony. It is the very embodiment of the House’s philosophy—to blend rather than to vintage, combining three exceptional harvests to create a wine that surpasses the character of any single year. The bubbles seemed to rise like slow-moving stars, a constellation in the glass, their luminosity matched only by the silence of awe that followed the first sip.


The final pour, Alexandra Rosé 2012, was perhaps the most intimate expression of all—a rare prestige cuvée born of love and dedication. Created as a tribute from Bernard de Nonancourt to his daughter, it was a fitting finale: delicate, romantic, and endlessly refined.

Each Champagne was paired with small bites crafted by Chef Yuri, whose creations were as thoughtful as they were delicious—from the subtle pairing of mini oxtail croque-monsieur with the 2015 Vintage, to the nuanced interplay of spice and texture in the foie gras terrine with cranberry and gingerbread accompanying the Alexandra Rosé 2012. The Cuvée Héritage was paired with seared Hokkaido scallop, pollen crust, fennel, and saffron sauce, while the Grand Siècle Iteration No. 26 found its counterpart in Kaluga caviar, pani puri, and quail egg—a luxurious dialogue of texture and flavor that elevated the tasting into pure artistry.

What struck me most, however, was the intentionality behind the choices. These were not simply rare bottles assembled for prestige; they were milestones of the Laurent-Perrier story, chosen to illustrate a philosophy of excellence carried across generations. Erin Riccolo’s selection revealed an understanding that true luxury lies in continuity—the same steady hand that once guided the artisans in Laurent-Perrier’s early days still defines the House’s devotion to craftsmanship today.


As the evening concluded, the conversation lingered like the fine mousse of the Grand Siècle—soft, persistent, memorable. The glow of Le Club’s lighting reflected in the glasses, the air perfumed with brioche and citrus zest, and the sense that we had shared something beyond taste: a moment of heritage, artistry, and connection.


In a world often enamored by novelty, Laurent-Perrier remains a beacon of what endures—the pursuit of purity, the courage to blend tradition with vision, and the quiet perfection of Champagne that tells its own story with every effervescent sip.


And as I raised my glass to the evening’s hosts, I couldn’t help but feel that somewhere in memory’s cellar, Nicolas Kalpokdjian’s great-grandmother was smiling too.
