The event was moderated by journalist Robert Costa and attended by the President of the National Press Club, National Press Club members, journalists, photographers, and guests from various professional backgrounds. Mrs. Karen Pence, the former Second Lady of the United States, was also in attendance.


The evening began with a three-course dinner followed by a wide-ranging discussion on the themes of Pence’s book and the future of American conservatism. Throughout the conversation, Pence emphasized the importance of constitutional government, fiscal responsibility, economic freedom, strong national defense, and American leadership abroad. He reflected on his political career, his service as Vice President, and the evolving direction of the Republican Party.
The discussion also explored major issues facing the country, including the national debt, trade policy, artificial intelligence, and foreign policy. Speaking about AI, Pence stressed the importance of ensuring that technological innovation remains aligned with human values and dignity, stating, “We’ve got to make sure it’s AI for good, that it works for us, not us working for AI.”
